Job Description: JMT is seeking a Construction Manager/Inspector to act as the owner's agent in support of municipal construct in the Water and Wastewater Utility industry. The Construction Manager/Inspector will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the general contractor's construction efforts, working closely with the owner's contract representatives. This is a full-time, permeant position, starting immediately. The selected employee will provide CM/I services in the greater Washington, DC - Baltimore, Maryland area with the opportunity to join project management teams serving Fairfax County. Required Skills: Must have a minimum of eighteen (18) months of vertical public facilities or water/wastewater experience. Must have eight years of experience in the construction industry, some of which must be supervisory Construction management (CM) certification or equivalent combination of educational and similar field experience. Valid Driver's License. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour construction safety training. Familiarity with perform testing on material, equipment and installation. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel; Project Management Familiarity with use of Sharepoint including: uploading, tracking, and reporting capabilities software. Demonstrated ability to prepare draft modifications, independent government estimates, assist in change order negotiations, preparation and tracking of responses to requests for information, process submittals, prepare field observation reports and conduct progress meetings and prepare meeting minutes. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 40 lbs. As needed. Ability to work outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Holder of Department of the Environment Stormwater Management Administration Green Card (Maryland) or ability to successfully test for card in the first 30 days of employment Must have knowledge of confined space entry and able to obtain a confined space entry competent person certificate Qualifications Desired: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture CMAA, PE or PMP Certification Confined Space Training Hazard Communication Training Required Experience: Eight years of experience in the construction industry, some of which must be supervisory Ability / Capability to inspect and ensure contractor is complying with project drawings and specifications and third-party inspections and testing requirements Must have a minimum of eighteen (18) months of vertical public facilities or water/wastewater experience . Experienced using network systems for daily reporting, preparation of meeting minutes, RFI and submittal logs and progress reporting etc. Extensive experience in new, upgrade and modernization renovation and repair of federal, state, or municipal facilities exceeding $5 million in construction cost. Experience working within operating facilities; treatment, collection and/or distribution or occupied buildings. Prior experience working with municipal project managers / contract officer's representatives (COR) strongly preferred.
