Job Description General Summary: A nonexempt position responsible for providing primary care to patients, including assessment, treatment, care planning and medical care evaluation. Position may be integrated into various nursing roles of the practice, such as in Phone Triage, Infusion and the Endoscopy Center. Essential Job Functions: Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality. Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition. Provides instruction and information to patients as per physician's orders recorded on medical record. Ensures the comfort and safety of each patient & individualizes care according to each patients special needs. Follows safety and infection control procedures and documents all aspects of patient care according to GANV policies Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, physician direction, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations. Per physician's orders, executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response. Properly disposes of contaminated waste following Standard precautions and OSHA regulations. Understands the use, placement and interpretation of all monitoring equipment Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. Refers to/consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns. Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions. Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices. Education: RN. Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. Experience: Minimum one year of professional clinical nursing experience, preferably Gastrointestinal. Other Requirements: Current state registered nurse license. Current ACLS certification.
