Tribalco is seeking an experienced radio technician capable of planning, developing, installing and maintaining extensive radio communications systems, such as land mobile radio (LMR) and point-to-point wireless systems. The incumbent will deploy and serve sa technical subject matter expert in support of NPS Incident Management Teams throughout the United States and its possessions. This position is based in Reston, VA. Tribalco is seeking an experienced land mobile radio (LMR) technician capable of installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing LMR communications systems, to include Motorola conventional P25 infrastructure and subscriber units. The work will be in support of communications requirements for the National Park Service (NPS). Responsibilities: The ideal candidate must be able to install, configure/program, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Motorola conventional P25 LMR radio systems. Ability to utilize hand tools and test equipment required to install and test radio / antenna / grounding systems; ie hand drills, wattmeter, service monitors (Cobham 3920 and Anritsu), test cables, RF connectors, etc Ability to load code plugs into Motorola subscriber units, including XLS 1500, APX 1000, and XTL mobiles. Assist in managing, maintaining and distribution of the NPS radio cache in support of special events which includes radio asset maintenance, shipping, tracking and inventory control Serve as the subject matter expert to the technical support team lead in managing radio encryption keys for the NPS park units and the United States Park Police field offices which includes maintaining all key accounting records, conducting inventories of all accountable keying material, providing training to field personnel and maintaining critical logs Interface with government, vendor, and manufacturer technical support personnel to resolve critical system problems and make recommendations on solutions to include possible equipment replacement recommendations. Where needed assists in the documentation of all radio equipment and installation materials requiring replacing, modifying, or repairing LMR systems. Provides hands-on training for NPS personnel on proper operation of radio equipment. Specific Skills/Requirements: Specific experience with Motorola LMR systems: Conventional P25; GTR Repeaters (with duplexers/combiners) ; XTS, XTL, APX subscriber units. Ability to utilize hand tools and test equipment (Cobham, HP, Anritsu) required to install, and test radio / antenna / grounding systems. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in programming protocols for Motorola P25 digital radios and various software applications for programming P25 radios and encryption key material. Able to work flexible schedule and 12-hour days, if required Ability and experience in the installation of mobile radios and fixed stations equipment per user requirements and industry standards. Knowledge and ability to test and align duplexers and cavities as required. Knowledge of common radio encryption key management protocols, devices, and applications used in LMR systems. Ability to train personnel in the use of radio encryption management devices. Must successfully pass an FBI National Criminal History Check to obtain credentials for access to NPS facilities and a Medium Background Investigation (MBI) security clearance May be required to travel to work locations outside of the home office location Compensation: Compensation is competitive and is commensurate with experience.
