The Sr. Systems Engineer will be expected to provide expert level technical knowledge of concepts and principles related to supporting a Microsoft Windows server, Active Directory, and TCP/IP network environment on VMware and Nutanix platforms. The position will function within a team of systems and network engineers at the highest tier level. This position will serve as a top tier internal escalation point for systems and server related technologies. Additionally, this position will assist and collaborate with the systems architect at the direction of the network services team manager. Further roles include the creation and maintenance of system solution documentation to include user guides, as-is diagrams and schematics. The Sr. Systems Engineer will also be responsible for training and mentoring junior level engineers on principles and concepts related to efficiently supporting a complex technical environment. Responsibilities POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Initial configuration and maintenance of VMware ESXi Server and VMware Horizon View desktop virtual infrastructures Top tier escalation point for Storage, Virtualization and server related systems technologies Configuration and management of SAN storage Create expert level solution documentation, user guides, schematics and Standard Operating Procedures Provide guidance for overall industry and DoD best practices for mission critical environments Ensure integration and interoperability of system and network technologies Manage security and accreditation related aspects of system and network solutions Planning, coordination and execution of system updates, upgrades and preventive maintenance Development of risk management and mitigation strategies to ensure regulation compliance and a satisfying customer experience Enhance monitoring and health assessment processes for server and network related solutions Provide testing and debugging new programs to ensure compatibility with existing server technologies. Consult with the help desk, customers and other technical staff in the resolution of server and escalated problems or customer issues Perform operations and maintenance activities during non-business hours Provide on-call support Less than 10 percent domestic travel may be necessary (foreign travel not required) Qualifications POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Active DoD secret clearance or greater CompTIA Security + certification and enrollment in CompTIA continuing education program Minimum seven years of server hardware/software and network infrastructure related design, management and support experience Bachelors degree in a related Information Technology or an additional years of direct work experience to be considered on a case-by-case basis Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of leadership Expertise with Microsoft Server 2012, 2016 and Active Directory implementation and administration in a complex enterprise environment Expertise documenting complex network and server environments Experience with SAN infrastructures Experience with system performance evaluation benchmarking and trending analysis Familiarity with administration of Ayaya and Cisco networking devices and firewalls Experience with Commvault backup (Preferred) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions: Relocation of equipment from walking distance warehouse or within customer areas to include printers, monitors, laptops, desktops, keyboards and other peripherals The ability to maneuver under desks and tables The ability to physically move laptops, monitors, servers, keyboards and reconnect systems possibly located under desks Sitting for long periods Standing for long periods Ambulate throughout an office Ambulate between several buildings Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required Repeatedly lift and carry weight up to 50 pounds 55 Options Apply for this job onlineApply Share Email this job to a friendRefer Sorry the Share function is not working properly at this moment.
