Job Description Pet Supplies Plus is seeking the best experienced Groomers in Northern Virginia. Immediate openings for Full Time or Part Time Locations in Fairfax, Centerville, Falls Church, Manassas, Franconia, VA Signing Bonus for the qualified experienced Groomers. Grooming experts work in our state of the art full service Pet Spas located in our beautiful retail store offering over 8,000 products. We have a tremendous base of dog parents to take care of. Earning potential varies based on hours worked. Our Groomers average between $30,000 to $60,000 per year with benefits available. Primary Objective: The Groomer will be able to demonstrate that they are fully aligned with the Company's Mission known as the Paw Print. You are expected to pursue Company offered education and sales training and apply that Knowledge through Neighborly engagement that is both Trustworthy and Petcentric. You will not only be passionate and positive with Neighbors but also with fellow team members and leaders. A Groomer is responsible for maintaining neighbor service as per Company standards, grooming pets and providing other services such as bathing/brushing, ear and teeth cleaning and/or nail trims in adherence to all company policy/store standards. A Groomer is expected to be engaging with neighbors and have the ability to convey pet knowledge and expertise in an enthusiastic manner through verbal communications while living out the Paw Print. Reports To: This position reports to the manager in charge of the scheduled shift and will be evaluated by the Store Team Leader and from, time‐to‐time, the Assistant Team Leader. Educational and Training Requirements: Upon successful completion of the 30 Day Orientation and Training, the Groomer will be expected to fully grasp and demonstrate the ability to communicate enthusiastically to Neighbors and other employees. Completion of an approved grooming school/academy training program and/or equivalent. Depending on experience, at the discretion of the Store Team Leader and/or Head Groomer, additional training or mentoring may be required. Note: The Company may, from time‐to‐time, add continuing educational requirements in addition to what is currently stated. Compensation: Upon hiring, Groomer Team Member will be an hourly employee. When the Groomer Team Member reaches a level of success, hourly pay will be converted to commission based pay. Once 50% of the grooming service fee paid by the Neighbor(s) over the course of a pay period exceeds the hourly gross pay rate, the groomer will then be considered converted to commission and the hourly gross pay rate will no longer apply. Principal Responsibilities: 1. Ensure that each neighbor receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every neighbor, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge, and all other components of neighborly service. 2. Skilled in bathing/brushing and scissoring with multiple dog breeds. 3. Ability to work with and manage small, medium and large dogs and work around fur and dander. 4. Maintain a safe, clean work environment. 5. Communicate neighbor requests to management. 6. Ability to build enduring relationships with both Neighbors and their pets 7. Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, and practices. 8. Any other duties as assigned by leadership. Essential Requirements: 1. Ability to safely move or handle merchandise, equipment and pets weighing up to 50 pounds. 2. Ability to safely climb ladders. 3. Ability to bend and kneel as needed, sometimes for extended periods of time. 4. Ability to safely operate all store equipment necessary to run the grooming area. 5. Ability to process information through POS system. 6. Ability to positively communicate with team members and neighbors. 7. Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation. 8. Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
