Job Description Electrical Engineer Responsibilities Rugged Science is seeking an electrical engineer well rounded in the design and development of hardware and firmware for embedded computer systems and LCD Displays. The electrical engineer shall provide design support for embedded wire harnesses and cable assembly design. Knowledge and technical capability should cover the scope and ownership of product development including conceptual design, development of product requirements and architecture, implementing and testing the design in both hardware and firmware, and concluding with system test and evaluation. The candidate will be responsible for new product development and existing product improvement for use in military and/or industrial applications. The candidate will be expected to participate and potentially lead development projects of moderate to high complexity and to work in a highly-collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment. Current opportunity is for a 6-month term although it is possible the right candidate could lead to full-time employment. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Generate electrical designs and documentation that support manufacturing and customer requirements. Generate basic electrical drawings, ranging from conceptual block diagrams, to wire assembly drawings, to test procedures. Select components and create bills of materials to complete design specifications. Technical expertise includes AC/DC and DC/DC power and analysis, system interface definition, harness fabrication fixture/mockup design, specification generation, voltage drop & loss analysis, test procedure generation for insulation resistance/high potential (IR/Hi-Pot) testing, EMI/EMC testing, and manufacturing support. Design embedded wire harnesses and cable assemblies to minimize bulk, weight, and cost for final embedded computer system. Fabrication and test of electronics subassemblies and prototypes, either in-house or through a contract manufacturer Read and develop drawings/schematics to include BOMs and basic dimensioning practices. Provide troubleshooting for system or component failures. Support engineering integrated product team in multiple areas including research and development, prototyping, manufacturing, installation and testing. Familiarity with instrumentation & tools required for debug, test and integration of embedded systems, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. Experience in the creating technical documentation in a regulated environment Required Experience and Education Requirements BS Electrical Engineering Technology. 2 - 5 years of experience in electrical design Strong background of design and manufacturing standards for electrical harnesses, crimping, interconnecting cables, and wiring. Demonstrated experience using AutoCAD Electrical or AutoCAD Inventor Ability to develop drawings using AutoCAD Inventor Electrical Must be a US Citizen Preferred Experience and Requirements Familiarity with military standard testing processes and techniques is a plus.
