This critical role will report to the Director of Financial Operations and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations, as well as the financial reporting and analysis and forecasting and budgeting functions. The successful candidate must develop a solid understanding of Allied Telecom Group's (Allied) products and business operations methods and procedures in addition to their expertise in accounting and finance areas. The incumbent will with work closely with the Director of Financial Operations to develop financial metrics and performance indicators to provide actionable data to the Allied management team. A key requirement of this role will be creating, enhancing, and implementing budget processes and procedures, internal financial controls, and financial reporting and analysis. Therefore, a required capability for success is the ability to meet current daily, weekly and monthly deadlines while also creating and implementing new processes, controls and reporting. The candidate must be comfortable with interacting with banking institutions, key vendors and investors. Additionally, the role will include compliance and legal work; including local, state and federal regulatory and tax filings, and reviewing and providing negotiating support for any and all legal and contractual agreements, annual business insurance renewal, and negotiation and procurement of equipment leases. Key Responsibilities Manage Financial Operations & General Accounting Staff: Leverage strengths of the current Accounting and Finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals. Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization, while creating and promoting a positive and supportive work environment. Staff management duties, including interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Conduct regular reviews to motivate staff and support training to develop skills. Conduct weekly team meetings with staff to ensure a cohesive work environment. Conduct 1-to-1 meetings with each staff member to motivate, mentor and direct completion of projects. Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with Allied department heads, customers, vendors and banking partners. Create a documented system of accounting policies and procedures. Leverage technology to increase efficiencies and accuracy in the Finance Department. General Accounting and Accounting Operations: Build and maintain a system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of Allied's reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Manage day-to-day accounting operations including Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger. Establish and maintain a monthly closing routine with recurring standard entries and complete documentation that ensures accurate, timely reporting, with a complete audit trail, for all the enterprises. Record adjusting journal entries and prepare reconciliations addressing non-routine circumstances as they occur. Prepare monthly work papers to maintain the general ledger in order and in balance. Reconcile the balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. Provide financial information to lenders and potential lenders as requested or required to satisfy corporate financing reporting commitments. Monitor cash flow and ensure proper cash levels. Maintain banking relationships. Responsible for federal, state and local tax filings. Monitor and ensure compliance with emerging relevant telecommunications and tax legislation to comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Satisfy external certified audit requirements in a timely manner. This is to include compilation and review of all reports and schedules, including audited statement notes. Work with auditors on the annual audit and preparation of related tax returns. Responsible for the annual renewal of the business insurance. Responsible for procurement of equipment leases; including rate negotiation, lease finance document packet, and maintenance of organizational process. Budgeting and Forecasting: Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts, including developing the process, templates, revenue and cost drivers. Gain thorough understanding of Allied's revenue and cost drivers required to develop accurate forecasts and projections. Report on Actual vs. Budget, Actual vs. Forecast and Forecast vs. Budget on a monthly basis. Calculate variances from the budget and forecast and report significant issues to management. Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of operations. Develop 12 month rolling cash flow forecast model. Support and assist other departments with quarterly and annual reoccurring purchases. Reporting and Financial Analysis: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including the preparation of the executive management reporting package. Prepare monthly Key Performance Indicator reports. Prepare USAC 499-Q and 499-A, as well as other FCC, state and local CLEC regulatory compliance reporting. Monitor and ensure the completion of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll required reporting. Work closely with Financial Operations Manager to develop revenue reporting and assurance processes. Respond to internal and external requests for special and/or ad hoc financial reports. Issue timely and complete financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Prepare financial analysis such as customer profitability, product profitability and customer acquisition cost. Required Skills and Experience Minimum of a BA/BS; CPA and/or MBA Preferred Leader with three to four years of director level accounting and finance experience. Solid experience with financial reporting, budget development and analysis, and gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders. Ability to think and operate both strategically and tactically. Comfortable and flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment. Analytical - strong skills in synthesizing complex, new and diverse information. Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software, including Quickbooks, ADP and Salesforce.
