Job Description: Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge, VA is recruiting for new graduate RN's (Senior-level BSN Students) to work full-time 12 hr. rotating shifts on the Cardiac Telemetry Unit.

Hours/Shift: 12 hr. rotating shifts (7a to 7p and/or 7p to 7a) on varying days

Department/Position Overview:
SNVMC Cardiac Telemetry is a 26-bed unit that supports Sentara's Mission to improve health every day. We care for a variety of ill patients with common diagnoses such as pneumonia, diabetes, CHF, renal failure, altered mental status, GI bleeds, stroke patients and those requiring cardiac NSTEMI work ups, monitoring, and further testing. The Cardiac Telemetry unit is a certified stroke unit. Our teams work alongside a designated pharmacist, respiratory therapist and are supported by several case managers and social workers who aid the RN in managing chronic disease processes and interventions. Patients are admitted by our Sentara Medical Group Hospitalists or are managed by our pulmonary group and other physician specialists. We have a high performing work ethic, a philosophy for transparency and accountability, and encourage everyone to make the right choice with their career goals and home-work life balance. The cardiac telemetry environment affords nurses an ideal opportunity to further pursue growth and development by establishing a firm foundation in acute care basic nursing, then transitioning from novice to nurse expert through the critical care growth and development program.

As a new graduate you will be able to participate in our Nurse Residency Program. Sentara Healthcare Hospitals have joined the Vizient/ACCN Nurse Residency Program™ (NRP) which effectively supports new nurse graduates as they transition into their first professional roles. Built on evidence based curriculum developed by experts from academic medical centers and nursing schools across the country, the program focuses on these critical areas; leadership, patient outcomes and professional role. If you have less than 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, you will be automatically enrolled in this year long program. The residency curriculum is designed as monthly 4-hour seminar sessions and is considered paid work time supported by your education and leadership teams.
