Job Description: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, the area's first Magnet hospital, is accepting applications for a RN Diabetes Educator.
This is a Flexi (PRN), Day shift position.

Must have BSN and a minimum of 2 years Diabetes experience as a Registered Nurse.

The RN Diabetes Educator serves as an expert clinical resource for clinical staff and healthcare providers in the inpatient and outpatient settings to include support groups. The RN Diabetes Educator plans and coordinates care and education for patients with diabetes across a continuum in collaboration with other disciplines, community agencies and Sentara Healthcare subsidiaries. The RN Diabetes Educator provides patient, family, and staff education to promote wellness and prevention of complications associated with diabetes.

Education Level
RN-Bachelor's Level Degree

Required: Diabetes - 2 years

Preferred: None, unless noted in the “Other” section below

Required: Basic Life Support, Registered Nurse

Preferred: None, unless noted in the “Other” section below

Required: Active Listening, Communication, Coordination, Critical Thinking, Instructing, Judgment and Decision Making, Microsoft Word, Service Orientation, Speaking, Technology/Computer, Writing

Preferred: None, unless noted in the “Other” section below

Certification in Diabetes Education (CDE) required within 2 years of employment. Demonstrates expert clinical skills in diabetes management, diabetes education and care.
