Instructor/Assistant/Associate or Full Professor, Term Faculty Cyber Security Engineering, Volgenau School of Engineering
The George Mason University Cyber Security Engineering (CYSE) program, within the Volgenau School of Engineering, invites applications for 2 term faculty non-tenure track positions beginning August 2018. Candidates must have an established record of excellence in cyber security engineering. These candidates will be eligible for positions at the rank of term instructor, assistant professor, associate professor or professor. As Virginias largest public research university, Mason has recently achieved Carnegie Research I status and is eager to build on its reputation of conducting research of consequence. The positions will be within the Volgenau School of Engineering (VSE). The positions can be at any rank (instructor, assistant, associate, or full professor) commensurate with education and experience.
Responsibilities: The successful candidates are expected to teach CYSE courses supporting the Cyber Security Engineering Program. Teaching may be at the undergraduate and/or the graduate-level. In addition, the candidates will coordinate courses, participate in the ABET accreditation progress, manage graduate teaching assistants, participate in student advising, and perform other professional duties.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned MS and/or PhD before the start date of the position in one of the following fields: information technology, computer science, cyber security or a related field. Teaching in the respective cyber security engineering disciplines at the graduate and undergraduate levels is expected, and the ability to bridge to associated cyber security engineering areas is an advantage.
Applicants should possess a strong commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Excellent communication skills are expected.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will be those who have experience or ability to teach courses in cybersecurity. Practical experience in the area of cybersecurity is highly desired. While applicants in all areas of information sciences and technology will be considered, we are particularly interested in candidates who specialize in cybersecurity. It is preferred that applicants possess a MS or PhD degree at time of application submission.
