About The Job Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting a Portfolio Analyst in the Credit Administration Department. If you are the chosen candidate, you will prepare financial spreadsheets for all types of business and personal financial statements as well as business and personal tax returns; be responsible for maintaining and updating the Financial Statement Exception Report; obtain and analyze financial and other information to assist in underwriting commercial credit requests. You will prepare written analysis to assess credit risk for loan requests; provide analyses primarily for renewals and accounts of low to moderate complexity, encompassing a variety of loan and collateral types. You will also assist portfolio managers in ongoing portfolio management and perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of various credit administration functions. Areas of Focus: Independently prepare financial spreadsheets using appropriate software ensuring spreadsheets are prepared in accordance with established credit policies and department procedures. Assist portfolio managers in preparing renewal packages, MCLARs and new requests. Evaluate and recommend loan requests for approval and perform financial analysis of borrower as well as demonstrate understanding of loan rating system. Update the Financial Statement Exception Report keeping exceptions to a minimum. Administrative duties as assigned. Prepare industry studies and other special projects as assigned. Required Skills: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field. Minimum of 1 year experience as a credit analyst or 2 to 3 years of comparable work experience. Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects while meeting established deadlines. Problem solving skills with the ability to collect, interpret and analyze data from diverse sources. Strong writing skills with the ability to summarize moderately complex financial data into the written word with ability to write clearly and coherently about key credit and financial issues. Internal and external contact to obtain information during underwriting process. Ability to work in collaborative, team-oriented environment with appropriate interpersonal skills to represent the Bank professionally and maintain positive rapport with clients and within the Bank.
