SUMMARY: Responsible for supervision of counseling staff and clinical interns in providing case management and counseling services. Responsible for consistent maintenance of chart documentation in accordance with agency, Virginia licensure and CARF standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for supervision assigned counseling staff and clinical interns Provide regular individual and group supervision for counseling staff and interns as appropriate Assure adherence to clinical, contractual and licensure standards/regulations through review of client and chart supervision Participate in regular client staffing with multidisciplinary team as appropriate Provide supervision for counseling interns from area colleges and training programs Evaluate, coach, and provide corrective action plans to assure counseling staff and clinical interns meet job performance standards and reviews all disciplinary action with Program Director/Clinical Director prior to instituting Conduct regular performance evaluations as appropriate Complete Intership evaluations/progress as required by the institution Provide family counseling services to adolescent Medicaid clients as required by DMAS Develop and conduct community outreach lectures for various groups Responsible for interfacing with Case Managers, Probation and Parole Officers, Social Services workers, and other referral sources to assure transfer of accurate and timely clinical information as needed Assure that counseling staff completes al documentation such as: Change of Status Reports, Continuing Care Plans, Staffing Reports, Discharge Summary and that these are forwarded in a timely manner to referrals Maintain ethical standards and continued professional growth, including Abide by Program and PHMA policy and procedures. Oversees staff understanding and compliance.Ensure all CARF standards are instituted and maintainedPromotes, in public and private contacts, the quality standards and ethical practices of PHMA staff.Continue professional growth by attending workshops, trainings and staff in-service trainings to increase skill and knowledge and to set appropriate example for staffMaintain current licensure/certification including FEAR, CPR, First Aid, and Medication Management.Maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Human Services or related field, Licensed by the Virginia Board of Counseling, or the Board of Social Work 3 years employment experience in a substance abuse program working with multidisciplinary teams. Certification as addiction counselor a plus KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of various substance abuse treatment modalities; knowledge of issues collateral to substance abuse (AIDS, Dual Diagnosis); ability to train and supervise staff, and knowledgeable about Virginia licensure and Human Rights requirements. Prior management experience essential; demonstrated ability to perform under pressure Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Familiarity with the 12-step approach Experience working with diverse population Experience working in hospital or medical settings Experience working with commercial insurance carriers Ability to prepare and maintain required documentation Ability to comply with state and federal regulations regarding confidentiality
