The Chief Marketing Officer will work with the Executive Director to create, implement and oversee marketing strategies to increase both the visibility of Subscript Law as a trusted legal news source with an innovative means of delivering information and Subscript Law's revenue generation via advertising, winning grants, and generating donations. Responsibilities: The Chief Marketing Officer will be responsible for: Networking with organizations that offer resources to lawyers, professors, teachers and law students to increase Subscript's visibility, including: researching organizations and individuals who serve our target audiences; making contact and creating relationships; and arranging in-person networking meetings; Identifying and fostering relationships with organizations and outlets that will cite and/or publish Subscript's reports; Creating communications materials to inform donors, partners and newsletter subscribers, and other stakeholders of the organization's ongoing operations including a call to action for donations to and/or publishing of Subscript material; Identifying public relations opportunities (speaking engagements for the founder/ED and sources for articles about the organization); Identifying potential donors, suitable grants, and sponsorship opportunities and fostering relationships with relevant persons or institutions; Leading the overall marketing strategy including participating in the creation of social and traditional media strategies alongside the Communications Manager; Representing Subscript at in public including at conferences and other events; and Strategizing and executing other activities to increase the visibility of the organization and engagement with the website and social media accounts. Qualifications: Either a BA/BS and 3-5 years marketing experience; JD preferred. Commitment to Subscript's mission (smartly engaging the public around legal issues); Excellent writing, editorial and oral communications skills; Demonstrated interest and experience in marketing and communications; Demonstrated interest and experience in legal and political education or advocacy; Excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to meet tight deadlines; Strong knowledge of social media and digital engagement; Strong research skills; Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to foster cooperation and collaboration; Ability to produce innovative ideas to improve marketing strategies; Ability to self-start (work without constant supervision); “Can do” attitude and creative problem-solving skills.
