Research Technician, Department of Psychology - Georgetown College

Georgetown's Department of Psychology is an intellectually diverse community of scholars engaged in research addressing psychology at the levels of mind, brain, and society. The Research Technician, reporting to Dr. Chandan Vaidya, has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Collects brain imaging data from human subjects for grant-related studies; and contacts, schedules, and debriefs families.
  • Collects neuropsychological data from participants.
  • Assists with the student design.
  • Keeps records for all data related activities for the grant.
  • Uploads data to NIH repository in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains IRB protocols.
  • Maintains database of behavioral data associated with grant studies.
  • Scores, tabulates, and supervises data entry in REDCAP database.
  • Coordinates with research team at Children's National Medical Center participant recruitment and scheduling.
  • Manages day-to-day lab operations.
  • Manages participant payments and petty cash account.
  • Manages ProCard reconciliation related activities, such as compiling receipts.
  • Coordinates lab event and weekly lab meetings.


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 to 4 years of brain imaging analysis experience
  • Experience with MATLAB scripting, brain imaging software (SPM, FSL), Linux operating system, and PC/Mac
  • Good organizational skills, as well as interpersonal skills for interaction with child participants

This is a term position ending on or about July 2021.
