Position Summary for Essential Functions Overall purpose of the position: In this role the successful employee will observe and record the progress of persons with disabilities while assisting them with the training, skill development, and communications tools needed to perform within a traditional work setting. The employee will use behavioral techniques, methods, and analyses to enhance the individuals' learning experience. Education: Associate's degree in Social Work, Education, Human Services or related field, or commensurate experience is preferred. Experience: Experience working in an Intellectual Disabilities program as a behavior technician is preferred. Two years of progressive experience working in a vocational, residential or recreational setting with individuals with challenging behaviors required. Knowledge of Medicaid regulations, state licensure regulations, and CARF is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Training & Support: Supervise, train, support and monitor a minimum case load of 20 individuals with disabilities at any given time in the center-based programs with a primary focus on people who have extensive need for behavioral support. Collaborate with Rehabilitation Specialists to ensure behavior guidelines correspond with the individuals' goals and outcomes. Implements individualized instructional programs; prepares appropriate materials; supports individuals as they transition into general work settings. Implement initial clinical phases of behavior plan and train staff on implementation of plans (after the initial training from Behavior Support Manager), including ongoing monitoring. Provide direct service staff with ongoing training on proper MANDT techniques and implementation of behavior plans. Provide crisis intervention and guidance to staff. Data Management: Responsible for ensuring record keeping, documentation, data collection, and reports that pertain to case load individuals. In conjunction with the Behavior Support Manager, develop the necessary forms and coordinate the collection of baseline data, including communicating to team members the data collection and requirements. In conjunction with the Behavior Support Manager collect, summarize and analyze the data. Ensure the collection of daily progress data for individuals. Liaison: Assist staff and individuals in developing creative methods to increase community integration of center-based programs. Attend all relevant individual, center-based, and rehab team meetings.
