Community Lodgings seeks an experienced Development Director to support the organizations fundraising including, grant writing, annual donations, major gifts, bequests and other forms of planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The Development Director is responsible for leading the organizations fundraising plan to ensure that all current and future Community Lodgings programs are appropriately funded through a combination of grants, corporate and individual giving. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, mastery of financial tools, and experience working with foundations, corporations, private citizens, and volunteers The Director of Development will serve as a senior staff member and will report directly to the Executive Director. He/she will develop and execute a comprehensive program that includes broad-based fundraising from individuals, corporations, and foundations, marketing and communications efforts, and oversight of the development committee. Major Duties and Responsibilities · Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals for public and private funders as well as major gifts acquisition. · Perform prospect research on foundations, corporations and public sources to identify and evaluate prospective funders. · Work with Executive Director, Board of Directors, members of the Development Committee, Event Committee and staff to identify fundraising needs and manage organization fundraising calendar. · Write and edit all grant communications, manage collaborative grant writing efforts and ensure grant terms are met with compliance. · Develop, plan and direct major special events (spring event, fall breakfast). · Manage direct mail and digital campaigns. Develop and enhance organization relationships with key funders through effective and well-written communications. · Utilize donor management software in accordance with fundraising best practices and ensure staff adherence to policies and procedures. · Implement programs that train and utilize board members and volunteers in the cultivation and solicitation process. · Complies with all grant reporting as required by funders. Provides regular written updates/reports to current and past funders as required. · Manage all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations. · Research and identify viable resource development events for the organization. · Oversee production of all print and on-line public relations and marketing materials, including appeal letters, brochures, newsletter articles, and annual reports. · Identify donor prospects through suggestions from staff, past and current Board members, existing donors, colleagues and other viable sources. · Assist in the creation of and reporting on development budget. · Supervise the Volunteer Coordinator and the Communications Consultant. · Other duties as assigned. Qualifications · Minimum 5 years experience in professional fundraising · Must embrace the mission of Community Lodgings · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gifts · Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers · Be a "self starter" and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls · Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and the community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence and good listening skills
