In order to qualify for Information Technology Specialist (Information Security), 2210, at GS - 14, you must meet the following:
  • You must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or equivalent band level of responsibility in the Federal Service that demonstrates competence in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. In addition, experience which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skill and ability to successfully perform in this position. Specialized experience includes planning and organizing Information System Security (ISS) feasibility, analytical and impact studies, coordinating, developing and implementing ISS policies, procedures and monitoring compliance. Experience servicing as the representative and focal point for all matters concerning IT Security.
GS-14 (or equivalent): individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3.Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

2. Knowledge of federal laws and regulations, IT policies, principles, and acquisition of the technology of systems and applications software in order to develop and apply ISS guidelines.
3. Ability to plan and organize feasibility, analytical, and impact studies for ISS trends and new development on IT Infrastructure.
4. Ability service as the representative and focal point of DIO for all matters concerning IT Security and investments.
