Part-Time Veterans and the Arts Initiative Assistant

This position will work with the Hylton Center’s Veterans and the Arts Initiative Program Manager, and the Hylton Center staff, to facilitate Veterans and the Arts Initiative workshops and special events, as well as assist with some marketing and development tasks. Responsibilities

  • Administrative tasks to determine workshop participant rosters;
  • Communicate with workshop participants regarding registration, scheduling, etc;
  • Attend workshops and special events;
  • Facilitate regular communication with workshop participants and workshop instructors;
  • Attend some external meetings to share information about community programs;
  • Maintain an email database and share information about community programs;
  • Assist with marketing and development tasks as needed; and
  • Stay aware of news and opportunities for the military community in the D.C. area. Required Qualifications:
  • Comprehensive understanding of the U.S. Military and Veteran communities;
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people;
  • Willingness to help with learning accommodations for groups and individuals;
  • Able to communicate programming details by phone or email with a professional demeanor;
  • Comfortable speaking with individuals, to small groups, and to large groups in public settings;
  • Able to travel for some external meetings in Northern Virginia;
  • Proficient with MS Office software; and
  • Able to navigate major social media platforms and commonly used communication apps.
