Position Description:
To provide communications to the hospital's physicians, staff and visitors by paging, answering incoming and outgoing calls, staff notification etc. in a professional and courteous manner 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Responsibilities:
  • Uses appropriate phrases when answering, transferring or placing a call on hold
  • Connects callers to the appropriate extension
  • Operates paging equipment and pagers
  • Responds to codes in a timely manner
  • Places long distance calls for staff and patients
  • Provides general information to staff, physicians, patients and the public.
  • Provides coverage in emergency situations and non-emergency scheduling.
  • Maintains all department and hospital documentation with the appropriate information.

Required Education and Experience:
  • HS Diploma and 1 year Operator or Receptionist
  • Must be able to read, speak clearly and understand English.
  • Must have good listening skills
  • Capability to handle more than one task at a time
  • Ability to make good judgment decisions quickly
  • Must be reliable, responsible, flexible and detailed orientated
