Counsel - Litigation/EmploymentJob DescriptionCoStar Group, an international, NASDAQ traded, DC-based information and technology company is seeking a mid-level attorney to serve in the role of Counsel for litigation and employment matters. The position will report to the Deputy General Counsel - Litigation. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, with 1 to 2 years minimum at a top law firm. As a member of a small in-house legal department, which was a finalist for ACC's Outstanding Legal Department in 2017 and winner of ACC's In-House Innovators Award in 2014, this attorney will have responsibility for supporting litigation of all types, with a relative focus on employment matters.The candidate must have excellent credentials, meticulous care for detail and accuracy, strong written and verbal communication skills, be ready to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a practical approach to solving business and legal problems.ResponsibilitiesManaging the full spectrum of litigation matters, including content protection, intellectual property, contract, and other types of disputes; managing litigation holds; coordinating discovery tasks;Primary responsibility for managing employment-related legal matters, including partnering with HR to conduct internal investigations, drafting responses to administrative charges, and representing the company in employment-related litigation/arbitration;Collaborating with senior leadership and HR to develop, implement and ensure compliance with workplace policies and procedures;Reviewing, drafting, and assisting with interpretation of various types of employment agreements; andAssisting with the company's response to various state and federal government investigations.QualificationsJD from accredited law school with excellent academicsLicensed to practice in at least one jurisdiction. Willingness to apply to DC Bar, if not already licensed to practice in DC2-5 years' relevant litigation and employment law experienceMinimum 1-2 years' experience at a top law firmExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent analytical and negotiating skillsExcellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with ability to be flexible and adapt to frequently changing workload and responsibilitiesAcute attention to detail.
