  • Incumbent must be respirator certified.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • One year of generalized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
    Generalized Experience: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

    Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.

    • Knowledge of Technical Practices related to standard plumbing methods and techniques, standard paint procedures, etc.
