Position Summary Global Internal Communications, a function of Global Communications & Public Affairs (GCPA), is charged with enterprise wide communications for Marriott International, including amplification of Marriott's corporate storytelling through an agile and integrated platform that includes social and digital distribution channels. The internal communications team is responsible for the strategy, creation and overall management and delivery of a portfolio of enterprise-wide communications programs and channels that is designed to educate, engage and excite Marriott associates globally while also continuing to advance the company's culture and values. The Manager, Social Media & Analytics is responsible for strategy development/implementation, goal setting, administration, and metrics reporting for Marriott's corporate social media channels (eg, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn). Administration includes strategic planning, creative development, and distribution of content through these channels to promote Marriott's reputation and align with the company's key messages. This role is more than just posting content on social media. The role must develop relevant, original, and high-quality content, while breathing new life into existing content; craft visually compelling solutions and assets based on context; and understand and implement best practices in crisis situations, monitor opportunities and recommend solutions to positively position Marriott in social media. This position reports to the Director, Internal Communications. Expected Contributions The primary responsibilities of this position include Development and implementation of the strategy for Marriott's corporate social media changes, including the development of an annual plan outlining the goals, administration, and metrics to be reported; modifies plan accordingly throughout the year and annually, in response to business needs. Integral part of the corporate crisis team. Partners with the Media Relations team to support and deliver crisis social media plans to targeted external audiences. Implement a content editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely campaigns that are aligned with the company's overall corporate communications objectives. Write, curate, and edit short- and long-form content from start to finish for use in social media. Concept, design, and produce visually compelling infographics and other animations for use in social media. Research emerging social media channels and trends, constantly innovating to keep content fresh, relevant, and engaging; manage promotions and social ad campaigns. Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media, content marketing, search engine optimization (SEO) and social advertising campaigns. Respond to requests and initiate actions, develop proactive content recommendations, and launch campaigns to advance the social media strategy. Conduct interviews for story development; write and edit stories and tweets; adapt stories for distribution. Work across teams and departments to coordinate photo and video content related to social and digital content. Recommend to department leaders how to evolve all social media content to help optimize communications flow, message integration, and delivery platforms. Working in collaboration with the Media Relations team, foster relationships with news media and other key stakeholders through social media. Coordinate and connect messages with other social media managers across the company. Monitor comments and emails daily across all corporate social media channels. Listen and correspond with associates and the public on MI's social channels in an authentic way that mirrors the best practices of the medium. Proactively monitor events in the media that could be considered a threat to or an issue for Marriott's reputation; provide guidance and recommendations to leadership on how best to manage these issues via social media. Partner with the Senior Writer to review and publish blogs with accompanying assets to LinkedIn on behalf of the President and CEO as well as the Executive Chairman of the Board. Provide writing and content development support to Manager, Content Strategy and Internal Communications. Support the Internal Communications team with design and production of key communications programs and their supporting communications assets (eg, Global Communicators Summit, Senior Leadership Forums, Worldwide Business Forums, General Managers' Conferences). Requirements for Position Candidates should possess knowledge and experience as well as demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows: Minimum of ten years traditional communications and marketing experience, with in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective audiences, and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios. Travel, hospitality, or luxury-goods background preferred. Highly motivated, creative individual with experience and a passion for connecting with associates, current and future customers, and influencers through social channels. Proven experience identifying potential negative or crisis situations in social media and applying strategic plans and solutions appropriate to the medium to mitigate those issues. Expert with social media outlets, including Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Foursquare, Pinterest, Tumblr, Snapchat, and other emerging channels. Expert knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research and Google Analytics. Highly knowledgeable in the principles of "Search and Social." Proven examples of managing social media listening tools and social advertising strategies as well as creating executive-level reports and summaries derived from social media reporting tools. Highly creative with strong written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills. Exhibits the ability to jump from the creative side to the analytical side, able to demonstrate why the presented ideas are analytically sound. Ability to translate complex ideas into easily-digestible content. Strong time-management skills. Proactive and responsive. Team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other associates when necessary (eg, content development, creation and editing of content, online reputation management). Expert in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Creative Cloud, TINT, and other relevant software. Possesses functional knowledge and/or personal experience with WordPress. Education: Bachelor's degree required; concentration in communications, journalism, or public relations preferred. Master's degree a plus.
