Your Responsibilities: Exciting opportunity with responsibility for both internal and external communications across US Managed Markets & Government Affairs (MMGA) that supports MMGA priorities, drives GSK's reputation, and positively engages employees. Provides both strategic counsel and tactical execution that supports the MMGA business and leadership. Key Responsibilities: LEADERSHIP: Work directly with SVP and senior leaders in MMGA to provide strategic communications plans, direction, training and guidance. COMMUNICATIONS PLANNING : Responsible for developing and executing an integrated internal and external communications plan that supports MMGA priorities, drives GSK's reputation, and positively engages employees. EXTERNAL/CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS DELIVERY: Provide external & corporate communications leadership across all areas relevant to MMGA, including product milestones, key business updates and issues management. Build and manage relationships with journalists, editors and other key stakeholders who cover our business particularly policy and DC based healthcare reporters. Serve as the primary US media spokesperson on matters related to US Healthcare Policy, drug pricing & Government Affairs. Responsible for generating sustained, positive news flow across traditional and digital/social media on key MMGA deliverables and public affairs programs. Responsible for delivery of thought leadership in Healthcare policy program for senior leaders (eg speech and blog writing, prep for platform programs and presentations, and ongoing media relationship building) . INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS DELIVERY: Support MMGA to deliver aligned, consistent messages throughout MMGA including leader messaging, town halls, and communications related to performance, operations, and organizational changes. This also includes executing field communications that give payer & accounts field teams and leaders information needed to drive performance. Examples include product launch support, day-to-day updates on payer marketing, and organizational change. The individual will be responsible for learning and using GSK's new technical platform for communication to the field. The role manages the MMGA contribution to significant communications events, such as the annual senior leader meeting. Ultimately, work with ‘Leadership' as described above to ensure the MMGA organization understands how they are performing, and contribute to a healthy, high performing culture within MMGA through clear, concise communications. ISSUES/CRISIS MANAGEMENT: Direct communications strategy for internal and external communications related to MMGA issues, ensuring a cohesive communications approach that meets the needs external and employee audiences. As a member of the US Corporate Communications team, proactively and independently lead the management of issues in MMGA that could impact the share price and reputation of the company. TEAMWORK: Work in close alignment with key stakeholders and leadership within the MMGA business, including the chief of staff. Take a structured approach to working with colleagues in key functions across GSK - including US Communications & Government Affairs, UK Corporate Affairs, US government relations, public policy, commercial, medical and R&D - to ensure alignment and seamless delivery of communications objectives. METRICS: Provide regular insights with strong analytics on media, issues and the environment affecting MMGA. Why You? Basic qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Communications, , Healthcare Policy, Government & Politics, or other relevant discipline. 10+ years of communications experience, with specific focus in pharmaceuticals and the public policy, government affairs or managed markets (payer) space. Proven track record in Healthcare Policy Communications.. Knowledge of the US Healthcare system, the various entities in the pharmaceutical supply chain (eg manufacturers, wholesalers, PBM's, healthcare insurers, Government, hospital systems and pharmacies) and how these entities interact to deliver medicines and vaccines to patients. Preferred qualifications: Masters Degree in relevant discipline. Knowledge of pharmaceuticals business, strategy and key stakeholders Proven external engagement skills across a variety of external stakeholders including extensive experience and demonstrated track record of successfully interacting with top-tier US media as well as other senior level officials at a trade association or non-profit. Articulate spokesperson with demonstrated ability to independently manage complex announcements and engage with and influence journalists on highly sensitive issues Knowledge of media drivers and practices; ability to use that information to make independent judgments on communications strategies and tactics under tight deadlines Crisis/issue management experience Self-starter who can manage a large and varied workload, with the ability to prioritize and see the big picture. Understanding of influential publications in the US, key journalist influencers at these publications, as well as ability to create a media/public affairs strategy in the US Healthcare Policy space Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills; strong and versatile writing skills with proven experience in developing clear, concise and persuasive materials under time pressure Good judgment with demonstrated ability to conceptualize, develop and execute communications approaches Familiarity with metrics-based communications planning, media strategy, and stakeholder relationship approaches Leadership presence and confidence providing strategic counsel to senior executives (VP and above) Understanding of internal communications channels, and appreciation for the importance of internal communications and its role in alignment and performance Demonstrated teamwork skills to work effectively with Corporate Communications, multiple business units, and multiple divisions; ability to exert influence in matrix environment without reporting line authority Knowledge of social media environment and ability to engage effectively to advance communications strategies Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure
