We want a Managing Editor-News who can lead Circa LLC's team in finding news content that is captivating, engaging in-depth and exclusive. We need a leader who can encourage storytellers to be innovative, to present stories in four dimensions, to explore new approaches and to inform and grow new audiences.Job ResponsibilitiesOversee a nationwide team of editors, reporters, multimedia journalists, photographers, social media editors, interactive artists, and others committed to breaking and covering the day's most important news for millennials in text, video, sound and interactive data.Manage the digital daily content for the National News DeskCreate and maintain a collaborative atmosphere where impactful and original storytelling rules the day.Manage daily news operations for multiple platforms, with a heavy emphasis on organic video and interactivity.Vet content and ensure every story meets the highest editorial, ethical and legal standards and achieves an unprecedented level of transparency and engagement with the end consumer.Set a daily and long-term strategic news agenda by collaborating with editors, producers, reporters, multimedia journalists, social media editors, and photographers, ensuring appropriate short- and long-term planning, making travel and news assignments and approving and editing content before it is published.Sustain a rich, deep, contextual and ever-evolving flow of news content 24/7 to all of Circa's platforms.Evaluate, hire, train and groom talent across the newsroom.Help set, adjust and evaluate Circa's content and engagement strategy in direct collaboration with the Chief Creative Officer and the Managing Editors for Enterprise and Engagement.Monitor quality control of posted content by reviewing and approving stories.Manage the news budget and keep it on target.Utilize social media platforms and search engine optimization (SEO) to promote Circa's work and grow audience, time on site and consumer engagement.Create a proactive newsroom culture that strives to break original news while staying up-to-date on all current trends and major developments essential to the target audience of next generation news consumers.Required ExperienceAt least five years experience managing digital and video content creators and multimedia journalists and maintaining a news budget.Extensive understanding of video storytelling and editing.Extensive experience with SEO and social media engagement with news content, especially Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Reddit, and YouTube.Proven track record as a lead decision-maker on story coverage and resource management.Proven success in growing an online audience, preferably in the television or new media space.Strong grasp of reading and interpreting audience analytics and using such data to set news agendas.Thorough knowledge of and commitment to the highest standards of journalism ethics.Proven record of effectively collaborating with internal news divisions like Enterprise and Engagement and outside departments like Digital Sales, Human Resources, Web Development, Legal, and Information Technology.Proven record of ensuring Company standards are met by all subordinates.Required Skills Demonstrated successful leadership abilities.Proven success in growing an online audience.Strong grasp of reading and interpreting analytics.Deep understanding of Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, Instagram and other established and emerging social platforms.Thorough knowledge of budget and personnel administration.Expertise and experience in reaching and growing a millennial audience.Masterful knowledge of news judgment.Excellence in news coverage.Demonstrated commitment to journalism ethics.Clear communication skills.Circa, LLC is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and a Drug Free Workplace.*LI-SP1
