  • To qualify for this position at the FV-J, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience may include but is not limited to: Experience with consumer and/or commercial UAS operating requirements as they relate to 14 CFR Parts 107 and 135, or direct application of Part 298 regulations. Such experience includes but is not limited to: registration and/or operation of a UAS under remote pilot certification; safe operation of UAS in accordance with Part 107 requirements; certification activities related to Parts 135 and/or 137 when they involve potential UAS impacts; issuing a certificate of waiver authorizing a deviation from any regulation involving UAS and/or Part 298 exemptions. Experience evaluating emerging UAS technologies such as convergence of automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, sensors, mapping data, and communication systems. Experience must demonstrate developing solutions or providing recommendations in this area that yield a positive result in risk mitigation or oversight plans with emerging threats where regulations may not exist or be directly applicable to the safety issues at hand. There is no substitution of education at this grade.

    For this position, education cannot be substituted for specialized work experience.
