Research Assistant Professor
The George Mason University, Center for Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Studies in the College of Science is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for our Research Assistant Professor faculty position. Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the position include designing and running intervention experiments with full coupled state-of-the-art weather climate models in which diabatic heating is either added to the models parameterized heating or acts as a replacement for that heating, for the purposes of studying: (i) the relationship of the Indian Monsoon rainfall to tropical diabatic heating; (ii) the influence of in situ diabatic heating on the growth and propagation of mid-latitude storms; and (iii) the influence of mid-latitude circulation on tropical heating on intra-seasonal time scales.
Required Qualifications: * Successful completion of a PhD in atmospheric sciences; * Multiple years of post graduate research experience in atmospheric sciences; * Successfully published research involving running intervention (or similar types of experiments) with the CFSv2 model of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the CESM model of the National Center for Atmospheric Research; and * Successfully published research in statistical methods of predictability.
