Clinic Public Health Nurse Manager (Public Health Nurse IV)

Leads and guides professional/paraprofessional staff to provide quality public health services. Manages resources (human/material) and provides direction and support for staff to ensure delivery of public health/human services. Maintains sufficient material resources (clinic, office biologics, etc.) to provide clinic, school and field nursing services district-side. Submits requests for equipment, supplies, space and personnel to meet client service demands. Determines staffing needs based on statistical analysis of office workload measures; schedules staff, reviews assignments and redistributes activities and works a staff assignment to cover vacancies/absences as needed in emergencies. Analyzes statistical data (patient flow analysis, case counts, no-show listings, immunization and communicable disease rates, community assessment data) and makes recommendations to maintain and improve service delivery to office catchment area. Collaborates with other leadership staff to resolve problems related to client service delivery and resource issues.
Graduation from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education with a bachelor's degree in nursing; plus five years of post-licensure experience as a nurse in an equivalent health care setting whose focus was primarily prevention services and community education, including three years in a public health/community health setting. Qualifying experience may include experience in ambulatory care settings such as outpatient clinics that incorporate community outreach/education as part of services or specialty settings that incorporate teaching, community outreach, resource referrals, etc. as part of a health care continuum; plus at least one year of supervisory experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Possession of current license or a multi state licensure privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Valid motor vehicle driver's license.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification (within one year of hire).
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background investigation, a Child Protective Services (CPS) check and an Office of Inspector General (OIG) verification to the satisfaction of the employer.
Preferred candidate will have public health or community services clinical experience; experience working with women and children; experience working in a high volume. culturally diverse clinical setting. Two years of supervisory experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Bilingual skills a plus.
