Assistant Director for Fitness
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Full-time professional exempt staff position with full benefits. The Assistant Director for Fitness has responsibility for oversight of a comprehensive fitness program (group exercise classes, personal training, fitness events) and management of weight training, cardio and functional training facilities and equipment in 3 campus buildings. This position also supports selected department wellness initiatives. Specific responsibilities include supervision of two full-time Coordinators, fitness program assessment and evaluation, development of weight/fitness facility rules and risk management policies and procedures, purchasing of program and facility equipment and supplies, and collaboration with campus partners to support existing and new wellness initiatives on campus.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have, as a minimum: Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or related field, three (3) years of experience administering fitness programs and/or managing weight/fitness facilities, one (1) year experience supervising others in a fitness program or facility, personal trainer certification from a nationally accredited certification program (ACE, ACSM, NSCA), some experience working with clients as a personal trainer, some experience teaching group fitness classes, knowledge of national trends and best practices in fitness programming and wellness or student health and wellbeing, and strong communication and customer service skills. Preferred qualifications include an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructor certification and Certified Health Coach (ACE, WELCOA, etc.)
START DATE: August 6, 2018, preferred.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience, the range is $$68,000-$78,000
BENEFITS: 22 days annual leave, 14 paid holidays, 3 days personal leave, 15 days sick leave; University contributions to health insurance and retirement plans; tuition remission.
