  • To qualify for the GS-12: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service performing the following: drafting, analyzing, and processing specialized correspondence, communications, material for the internet, talking points, presentations, responses to complaints, and/or reports on substantive matters for formal audiences; performing research and using logic and research material to solve problems; managing paper and electronic records, ensuring maintenance and disposition of records are within appropriate guidelines; accurately tracking activities, deadlines, responses to data calls or other matters, analyzing information tracked, and following up to ensure tracked information is complete and accurate; handling highly sensitive and confidential materials in discreet manner in accordance with legal policy requirements; training others (formally or informally) on laws, policies, guidelines, or procedures; and forecasting expenses, helping prepare budgets and monitoring expenses to ensure they are within budget.
