Job Description: Sentara Healthcare is currently recruiting for an experienced Pharmacist to serve as a Director of Pharmacy Operations at our Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA. This is a Full-time (40hrs/wk+) Rotating Shift (Days, Evenings & Nights) position.

Sentara Obici Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility located in Suffolk, Virginia. This 172-bed, full-service hospital continues a legacy of providing residents of Western Tidewater with high-quality, patient-centered care. In June 2010, Sentara Obici opened a new three-story, 63,480 square-foot wing, which includes all private beds serving orthopedic, medical and surgical patients and increased the hospital's bed capacity.

Responsible for all pharmacy activities. Assumes responsibility, accountability and provides leadership for daily operations, coordination of work, quality and service, strategic planning and supervision of pharmacy managers. Is the primary point of contact for pharmaceutical vendors and is responsible for negotiating and overseeing contracts with drug manufacturers. Serves as liaison for physician and community-relations activities. Responsible and accountable for drug distribution operations in assigned area of responsibility. Responsible for planning and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with hospital's overall policy and objectives; for the coordination and supervision of all activities and services provided by the hospital pharmacy and its personnel; for the conformance with established standards of professional practice and in accordance with applicable state and federal laws. May have access to, or oversight of Protected Health Information (PHI) in the course of carrying out position duties

Education Level
Bachelor's Level Degree - PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES

Experience
Required: Leadership - 5 years, Management - 3 years

Other
5 years experience in pharmacy business of division - home care, hospital, or managed care. Will consider pharmacists not licensed in Virginia due to relocation. Must have Virginia license within 90 days of Sentara start date.
