The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) provides global leadership in research, training, and education to prevent and treat heart, lung, blood and sleep disorders. The NHLBI is convening a Cure Sickle Cell Disease Initiative (CSCI), aimed at finding innovative ways to support discovery and development of efficacious genetic therapeutic approaches and bring them to scale in clinical populations to accelerate finding curative treatments for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). The NHLBI is working with The EMMES Corporation to establish a Coordinating Center (CC) for the CSCI and to engage key staff of this initiative.

Primary Purpose

Administrative Coordinator/Meeting Planner will manage the project’s onsite and offsite meetings and be knowledgeable in all aspects of managing/running large online web seminars. Other project duties include formatting documents, maintain website content and database content, organize project conference calls, coordinate project communications, develop project processes, and facilitate preparations and tracking of contract deliverables. Depending on project demands AC/Meeting Planner may participate in working groups.


    Offsite meeting/event venue planning per client’s requirements Plan, organize, and coordinate all aspects of Web Seminars Organize and coordinate conference calls and meetings, to include international sites and collaborators Manage project deadlines in collaboration with project manager and project staff Facilitate communications between project staff, corporate staff, and project sponsors regarding project development Design, develop, consolidate, edit, format, and distribute technical reports, manuals, presentations, and manuscripts Compose, consolidate, and edit a wide variety of non-technical documents Format documents for 508 compliance accessibility Maintain database software relating to entering, retrieving, modifying, and manipulating data to generate various documents such as rosters, meeting materials, and reports Participate in establishing and maintaining project and corporate procedures and processes Manage electronic and paper-based project files and archives Maintain the project website contents and user access


    Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent years of experience in meeting planning/administrative work 3 plus years’ experience in drafting and coordinating complex reports, documents, and presentations High level of organization and ability to prioritize; attention to detail Consistency in meeting deadlines Intermediate to advance skills in Microsoft Office Suite products and Portable Document Format software products Knowledge of two or more of the following skills: C-Vent, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Microsoft Visio, web/video conferencing applications, website updates Experience with document formatting for 508 compliance is a plus Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Preferred
