Administrative Assistant to the Director
The Division of Special Education and Disability Research in George Mason Universityâ€™s College of Education and Human Development seeks applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant to the Director. Responsibilities: The division is seeking an experienced administrative assistant who will support the Director of the division by providing assistance to various projects and programs within the division, including academic and outreach program management, accreditation, admissions, reporting, and curriculum development. Responsibilities include scheduling internal and external meetings, following up on pending actions, making travel arrangements, preparing travel authorizations and reimbursements, editing and drafting documents, developing specific databases, collecting data, and ad hoc support to various initiatives as assigned by the Director.
Additionally, this position will serve as liaison between the division faculty and the director and as human resources (HR) liaison to the Deanâ€™s Office, working closely with the Director and the college central administration to prepare and track HR paperwork related to hiring, resignations, and employment visa sponsorships. Responsibilities also include working with the Director on annual program and personnel evaluations, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be exceptionally organized and detail-oriented; have the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and guidelines with a high-level of fidelity and reliability; be capable of prioritizing multiple tasks; and be able to take initiative and work independently. Demonstrated experience in an administrative position, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite are required.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education.
