Quality Assurance Inspector
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in quality control inspection or an engineering related field in maintenance systems, transportation systems and inspection, testing or evaluation. Associate Degree in Engineering, Quality Control/Assurance or related field and experience in quality control functions in operations is preferred.
Possession of a current, or the ability to obtain, a valid local motor vehicle operator’s license and/or CDL issued from the state of residence.
Ability to acquire an ASQ (American Society of Quality) certification as a CQI (Certified Quality Inspector) within three (3) years of hire.
Ability to satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this job either with or without reasonable accommodation(s).
This position requires skilled and complex technical quality control inspection and investigation work to support the enterprise quality mission. This position is responsible for quality activities that require a high level of investigative and analytical experience. Employees in this position are responsible for analyzing information, reporting research results, documentation skills, promoting process improvement, safety management, managing processes, and supporting process innovation, Quality Engineering initiatives, and operations research. Provides input to quality officers and support the successful implementation and sustainability of quality programs. Employees in this position work under the direction of a Quality/Asset Mission Assurance Manager and closely with the Quality Mission Assurance Officer.
Observation and Inspections: Performs inspecting, testing or measuring of workmanship and/or materials based upon specific technical subject matter expertise and established standards for all preventative, corrective, overhaul, rebuild and remanufacture activities.
Documentation: Reviews and/or interprets complex documents, i.e. engineering documents, drawings, schematics and diagnostic/repair manuals, policies, standard operating procedures, processes, work instructions etc.
Documentation: Records inspection data, maintain accurate records and provide data from inspection activities for performance analysis.
Corrective Actions: Follows-up on and track discrepancies through the lifecycle from inception to closure.
Reports: Develops reports of findings, issues, and/or problems etc.
Safety Management: Complies with and reports any violations of WMATA safety policies, procedures, guidelines and established rules.
Test/Diagnostic Equipment: Reads, interprets and understands test/diagnostic equipment.
