Description PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION IN ITS ENTIRETY AS THE TESTING PROCESS FOR PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY PARK POLICE HAS CHANGED. The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is currently seeking applicants for Park Police Officer Candidate positions. The Park Police secure and protect over 27,000 acres of park property in Prince George's County, on a 24-hour basis. If you meet the requirements you will receive a formal invitation via mail to take the Written Examination and participate in the Agility Test. The written exam is a video-based test designed to assess the critical abilities of entry-level police officer candidates using work samples. Applications that are mailed or hand-delivered will not be considered. Testing Dates and Time: Written Exams and Agility Testing: June 2, 2018 and June 16, 2018. Time: 8:00 AM Check-in will start 30 minutes prior to testing. The test will begin PROMPTLY. Late comers will not be admitted. Candidates will be screened and those meeting the minimum qualifications will receive a notification via email to self-schedule themselves for an exam date. Agility Test: Applicants completing the written exam with a passing score will be invited to the Agility Test. The Agility Test will be conducted immediately after the completion of the written exam. To take part in the Agility Test you must have Medical Clearance . Medical Clearance forms (click here) must be completed prior to being allowed to take part in the Agility Test. Dress: Business casual attire for the written exam. Appropriate gym and/or workout clothing for the Agility Test. IMPORTANT: You must bring a current, unexpired, valid driver's license and signed Medical Clearance Form with you on the day of testing. It is strongly suggested that you purchase in preparation for this exam. If you are unable to make the allotted dates and times, fail to self-schedule yourself when notified or if you fail the written exam, you are eligible to reapply during the next available recruitment period. Test dates will not be rescheduled . Minimum Qualifications Experience: No previous experience in law enforcement is required. Education: Graduation from high school or high school equivalency certificate recognized by the Maryland State Board of Education. Examination: Candidate applicants must pass the Commission's written Police Officer Candidate examination, must pass an oral interview conducted by a Police Assessment board. A background investigation will be made on each candidate and the candidate must meet the Commission's suitability requirements. Medical and Physical Standards: Park Police Candidates must be able to successfully pass a medical examination based on the Commission's medical standards for Park Police administered by a Commission approved medical physician prior to appointment. US citizen and not less than 21 years old at the time of application. Supplemental Information These positions are for those interested in working within Prince George's County only. THE MARYLAND-NATIONAL CAPITAL PARK AND PLANNING COMMISSION 2017 BENEFIT SUMMARY FOR MERIT SYSTEM EMPLOYEES The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Merit System employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). All plans are optional except the Defined Benefit and Long Term Disability plans. Retirement Programs Defined Benefit Plan (Mandatory Participation) - Plans A, B and E exclude FOP members. Plan Employee Contribution Plan A: 7% of base salary. Social Security Wage Base (SSWB) and 8% in excess of SSWB. Plan B: 4% of base salary up to maximum Social Security Wage Base (SSWB) and7% in excess of SSWB. Plan C: 9% of base salary. (FOP members only) Plan D: 8% of base salary. (FOP members only) Plan E: 4% of base salary up to maximum Social Security Wage Base (SSWB) and 8% in excess of SSWB.
