Researches, designs, develops and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software..Location: Herndon; Hours (Core); Function: Experience with all aspects of life cycle development, Object-oriented analysis and design using Ruby on Rails, or Java. Knowledge/experience with Angular, Node.js, CSS3, PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, Bootstrap, XML, MySQL.Unique opportunity for a developer to design and develop mission applications and lead small projects. The candidate would have the opportunity to develop application with varying degrees of scale, risk and complexity. Developer duties may include serving as the technical lead for the design, testing and implementation of complex applications, complex web application layouts, content and user interfaces and/or database projects.Responsibilities include, but not limited to:* The developer consults with clients to develop complex user requirements.* Translates user requirements from a formal requirements document into an application and/or database design.* Writes interfaces to companion applications or databases.* Writes necessary code.* Ensuring interoperability with other applications.* Generates test plans to ensure that adequate unit, system, and integration testing is performed.* Oversees unit/functional testing and transitioning the application and/or database to production.1. Participates in the design and coding of software products.2. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.3. Prepares comprehensive test plans and conducts tests.4. Analyzes test results and recommends moderately complex corrections to more experienced software engineers.5. Designs and develops compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.6. Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.7. Writes and updates technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.8. Troubleshoots problems and provides customer support for software operating system and application issues.9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.10. Participates in special projects as required.2-5 years of related software development experience.Desired skills:1. Demonstrated on-the-job experience exhibiting customer service skills.2. Demonstrated on-the-job experience working in a team environment exhibiting problem solving skills.3. Demonstrated on-the-job experience with the Sponsor's Ruby on Rails platform.4. Demonstrated on-the-job experience with the Sponsor or Sponsor's partners and their current technology issues.5. Demonstrated on-the-job experience exhibiting written skills to include technical documentation regarding Sun, Solaris and Linux.6.
