Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) is a progressive member owned utility with a service area that spreads from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay, REC serves over 165,000 connections in portions of 22 Virginia counties. REC is seeking candidates for the SCADA Engineer position. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is required. PE preferred. Five years' experience working with an electric utility involved with substation, transmission and distribution systems. The focus on SCADA, Switching Procedures and Distribution Management is preferred. Must possess a strong technical background. Must have thorough operating knowledge of SCADA and electric utility operations. Must have a working knowledge of electronics. Must have extensive knowledge in Microsoft Excel for generation of various reports. Must have a working knowledge of all Cooperative apparatus (transformers, regulators, reclosers, relays, and capacitors). Must have working knowledge of electric operations as it pertains to SCADA and Load Management. Must possess basic computer skills, to include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including, but not limited to: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as required by job responsibilities. Must have the ability to perform computer programming relative to SCADA and Load Management/AMR. Ability to develop and maintain a Distribution Management System (DMS). Ability to develop knowledge of REC's transmission and distribution, system equipment control, and electric systems switching contingencies. Must be able to communicate with the general public. Must be able to develop reports for analyzing the effectiveness of the SCADA and Load Management Systems. Must be able to train personnel in the use of SCADA, Web Portal/SCADA reporting tools, and DMS. Must be able to prepare and deliver presentations to both large and small groups effectively. Must have the ability to plan and organize work schedules and be able to perform under pressure to meet specified deadlines. Must have a valid driver's license. Perform other duties as assigned. Most of the work is performed in the Headquarters office. Will be subject to 24 hour call to maintain SCADA functions and assist with load management program. Overtime will be required during outages, load control, and as work load requires. Attendance of seminars, meetings and conferences several times a year will be required.
