About this positionThe Staff Account will support the Director of Finance and Accounting by performing day to day accounting and accounts payable procedures, and other department duties as assigned. Accounting Duties: Assist in the preparation of journal entries by compiling, analyzing, and substantiating financial transactions as needed. Monthly distribution of General Ledger reports to budget managers and responding to all related questions. Reconcile accounts as requested. Perform internal audits as needed to ensure internal controls. Research, track and resolve accounting problems. Assist in month end/quarterly/year end close process and reporting. Assist in the annual audit, including year-end schedule and financial statement preparation. Assist with the preparation of federal, state, and county income and sales & use tax and regulatory filings. Accounts Payable Duties: Review and code vendor invoices ensuring compliance with company policy. Manage company issued credit cards to include recording, confirming and reconciling expenses. Review and process employee expense reports in a timely manner. Coordinate the processing of check runs to ensure accurate and timely payment of vendors. Liaise with internal employees and external vendors regarding approvals and questions. Support month end and year end accounting close including 1099 filing. Other Responsibilities: Contribute to team effort by assisting other accounting staff when necessary. Participate in meetings and trainings for the purpose of conveying information required to perform job functions. Stay current on ERP system and other software updates. Stay current on GAAP accounting and higher education accounting concepts and regulations. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for distributing and reconciling petty cash and student bank accounts. Monthly general ledger account reconciliations. Importing student billing charges and related electronic cash receipts. Assist in other monthly projects when needed. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or business related field. Experience: Two (2) years of experience in financial or management accounting, budgeting, or in relevant accounting specialization. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High level of discretion for confidential information; ability to appropriately handle critical information and sensitive situations.
