General Summary of Position Performs diagnostic cardiac ultrasounds on patients to assure high quality care and service to patients. Qualifications EDUCATION: Associate's degree with a concentration in computer science, or one to three years formal job related training is required. EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience post-graduation in echo cardiology experience preferred. LICENSE/CERT/REG: Registered Echo Tech; CPR certification and ACLS required. SKILLS: Demonstrated effective communication and problem-solving skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Actively participates in quality assurance program by completing all accrediting body requirements to maintain lab certification. Assists in coordinating patient care with clinical staff by reviewing the patient schedule at the beginning of each day to ensure appropriate support is available at the appointed times. Ensures equipment and supplies are available by coordinating preventive maintenance program, scheduling emergency service calls, and ordering necessary supplies to maintain an efficient patient schedule. Maintains a regulatory/compliance environment by following organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance to state, local, and federal standards and regulations. Maintains log of patient data and stored images by entering correct patient demographic information and archiving studies to ensure complete and accurate records are maintained. Performs diagnostic ultrasound studies on patients including, but not limited to M-mode and two-dimensional echocardiograms and stress echocardiograms by following ICAEL guidelines to ensure high quality diagnostic studies are performed. Prepares preliminary diagnostic reports by compiling relevant measurements and data to provide summary report for physician review, interpretation, and signature. Provides patient instructions and answers questions relating to scheduled procedures in order to properly educate and orient patients. Recognizes and alerts physician to abnormal studies by immediately contacting physician to discuss and assist with appropriate next steps. Sends diagnostic reports or study copies when required to ensure timely communication of patient data.
