Clinical Coord Cardiopulmonary
General Summary of Position: Assists in providing leadership for the cardiopulmonary departments to advance the mission and goals of MFSMC through collaborative relationships within the medical center, as well as throughout local, regional and national arenas. Responsibility and accountability for the management of assigned operations, personnel and financial activities of the department. Promotes excellence in clinical practice by coordinating ongoing education/training programs and Performance/Quality/Safety activities. Under the direction of the Director, has oversight of the maintenance and repair of all Respiratory Therapy equipment, Respiratory Therapy supplies and medical gas storage and ordering. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MFSMC philosophy, policies, procedures and practices. Leads, coaches, coordinates and supervises all clinical projects and programs. Qualifications: EDUCATION: Associate degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. EXPERIENCE: 5 years in Respiratory Care to include NICU, Pediatrics and Adult services. Supervisory, Lead or Charge experience preferred. LICENSE/CERT/REG: RRT Certification and license in State of Maryland. ACLS, PALS and NRP required. SKILLS: Patient assessment, respiratory care equipment and procedures. Superior written and verbal communication Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Assists in establishing and maintaining a therapeutic and safe environment that facilitates and supports the framework for the provision of Respiratory Care, based on evidence based practice, in order to achieve quality patient outcomes. Assists in the development and modification of performance improvement activities. Assists in the development of department goals, objectives, policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations. Collaborates with the CardioPulmonary Services management in the assessment of staff competencies. Participates in assessing staff performance against objectives; coaches, mentors, develops and evaluates employees to achieve behaviors aligned with MSFSMC mission, vision, values and performance standards. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Coordinates orientation of precepting of all new employees to the Respiratory Department. Counsels associates effectively and collaborates with appropriate manager/director to utilize the disciplinary process. Demonstrates effectiveness in making independent decisions when necessary and in providing/obtaining assistance and consultation when appropriate. Facilitates appropriate staffing for the department. Interviews prospective associates and makes recommendations for hiring. Investigates, introduces and demonstrates new equipment, therapies and techniques to staff. May perform the duties of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned. Prepares, organizes and directs programs for orientation/training and continuing education for Respiratory Care Practitioners. Supports department educational activities. Provides input to budget preparation. Assists in monitoring budget compliance, justifying any variances. Works collaboratively with the Director of Cardio Pulmonary Services to seek and utilize information to develop and implement services which support organizational objectives, patient care standards and quality care.
