General Summary of the Position Manages and coordinates the clinical operations and patient care at an Urgent Care facility in collaboration with the physician dyad partner. Supervises interviews, hires, evaluates, terminates if necessary, clinical staff. Handles employee and patient grievances. Provides professional direct care as needed. Triages patients for priority of care and maintenance of patient flow. Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies and procedures in consultation with providers, TeamCoordinators, SiteManagers and Center Administrators. Supervises obtaining and maintainingnecessaryinventory of equipment and supplies needed to implement policies and procedures and meet safe staff and patient needs. This position documents as appropriate, in the medical records and supports optimal patient flow. Coordinates education of staff for on-boarding of new providers/programs. Supervises maintenance of allcompetencies, licenses, and certifications of staff. Maintains environment and patient care consistent with legal and/or regulatory standards. Supports multiple specialists, understanding general concepts, practices, and procedures. Qualifications EDUCATION: Associates degree in Nursing required, Bachelors degree preferred. EXPERIENCE: 3 years of progressively more responsiblejob-relatednursing and ER or Urgent Care experience. Experience in solving patient and staff problems. LICENSE/CERT/REG: CPR certification required. RN license in state working is required. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Answers patient questions and provides education and materials/referrals as appropriate. Assists with interviews, hires, evaluates performance, promotes, and disciplines staff in conjunction with the Center Administrator Assures appropriate triage of all incoming patients. Assesses acuity of patient condition responding appropriately concern with need to be seen and how soon, as well as general clinical question/concern(s). Notifies providers of discussions as appropriate. Calls in prescription refills or changes per protocol or after consulting with provider. Delivers patient care consistent with policy and with high regard to patients/employee safety and quality of care. Supports new clinical and service initiatives with a positive attitude; seeks opportunities to improve care and the patient experience. Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Addresses roadblocks to achieving goals and objectives. Ensures compliance with governmental and accreditation regulations. Embraces all specialty providers workflows and needs to ensure clinical staff is properly and thoroughly trained and competent to assist all providers in the site. Embraces new technology and use of electronic health record. Documents clinically related activities accurately. Implements, develops, modifies, and reinforces MedStar PromptCare policies and procedures to ensure quality performance as well as cost reduction. Identifies and addresses potential infection control needs. Works with the Site Manager and providers to create an efficient practice. Reports statistics, evaluate problems, and proposes solutions or the office. Participates in meetings including regular staff meetings, training classes for safety, infection control, OSHA, EMR, CPR, TJC, safety, compliance and others as required. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. Procures and manages unit equipment, instrumentation, supplies, etc. Evaluates and recommends new equipment and instruments. Promotes an atmosphere of respect towards patients, families, vendors, employers and co-workers. Acts and communicates professionally at all times. Provides care consistent with MedStars mission, vision and values and in a manner that engenders patient confidence and loyalty by exceeding expectations. Acts as a mentor for the clinical staff; leads by example and fosters staff development. Provides direct patients care, including, but not limited to: escorting patients to the examination room, taking vitals, taking EKGs, phlebotomy, giving injections, IVs, and assisting providers with procedures as necessary. Ensures the physical well being of patients. Resolves conflicts between patients, providers, and staff independently and/or in consultation with the providers. Reviews diagnostic test results. Notifies appropriate provider of any critical or abnormal results. Notifies patient of results as requested by the provider. Completes proper documentation in the electronic medical record. Supervises and coordinates the day to day patient flow at the urgent care office. Works with providers and staff to minimize the patients wait. Supervises completion of logs and ensures quality control. Supports own personal development and needs to practice at a high-level of independence. Works to create a cohesive and productive work team. Provides adequate training of new associates and conducts competency testing for clinical staff in all areas. Ensures certificates are kept current. Maintains continuing education program for staff by giving or arranging for in-services and providing for training opportunities. Regularly distributes and ensures receipt of information regarding new developments, policies, and procedures.
