Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician in the Antenatal Testing Unit in Maternal Fetal Medicine. Qualifications EDUCATION: Certification in Diagnostic Sonography by ARDMS preferred, or graduation from an accredited Ultrasound program (registry eligible) with certification in Diagnostic Sonography by ARDMS within 1 year of hire. EXPERIENCE: 2 years general/obstetrical ultrasound clinical experience preferred. LICENSE/CERT/REG: CPR certification. Nuchal translucency certification preferred. SKILLS: Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Assists and guides perinatologist in amniocentesis procedure. Scans patient, determining angle for puncture, assists as necessary, maintains sterile technique. Provides discharge instructions. Communicates and documents patient's clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and computerized report format. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Coordinates daily sonogram schedule and monitors patient flow. Develops films in automatic processor and ensures films are of acceptable diagnostic quality and completeness. Enhances growth and development and enriches personal knowledge and skill through participation in educational programs and affiliations. Maintains effective working relationships with other departments and participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients. Performs other duties as assigned. Performs ultrasound techniques and examinations related to obstetrical and gynecological scans. Secures and returns supplies such as film and patient charts. Selects and operates equipment as directed. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
