To qualify for this position at the GS-14 level, you must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service) obtained in either the private or public sector that included the following tasks and responsibilities:
(1) Independently investigating charges of employment discrimination based on age, race, color, religion, sex, reprisal, national origin, disabilities, pregnancy, sexual orientation, parental status or protected genetic information;
(2) Determining scope or direction of investigations based on case information;
(3) Applying information regarding personnel policies (e.g., employee relations, qualifications, employment records, job qualifications, etc.) to the investigation process;
(4) Utilizing equal employment opportunity (EEO) policies and procedures (e.g., 29 CFR Part 1614, Management Directive 110, etc.) in the investigation and/or resolution of charges of employment discrimination.
5) Reviewing investigative files to ensure they are legally sufficient, such that a fact-finder can make a determination as to whether unlawful discrimination occurred.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
