Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Clinical Laboratory is hiring a Cytotechnologist.
Sentara Laboratory Services is a team of more than 700 Clinical Laboratory Professionals that service 12 hospitals and the communities around them in the Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina region.
Our Cytotechnologists are patient focused, scientific experts that help our care teams to diagnose our patient population. Our best team mate thrives in a fast paced environment and thinks on their feet. This promotional opportunity into a leadership role supports the Laboratory manager and the team in the Lab in areas of training, competency, staffing, students, and other issues within the lab.
The top candidates will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Cytotechnology or a certificate from a NAACLS accredited Cytotechnologist program. Candidate will also hold current ASCP CT certification.

Performs cytological technical preparation of specimens and evaluates gyn and non-gyn specimens for the presence of cancer or other pathological changes in compliance with departmental policy and procedure. Classifies the results according to established protocols, meets all regulatory requirements and complies with quality assurance policies.

Bachelors degree in a laboratory science and graduated from a school of Cytotechnology accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or other organization approved by HHS. Certified as a cytotechnologist by ASCP. Certification must remain current for continued employment.
