Software System Safety Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Provide research and technical support to a team tasked with the support of senior-level DoD and Service representatives on software system safety implementation and oversight for DoD weapon system acquisition programs. Leverage specialized knowledge and expertise in embedded, real-time safety critical software, including applying scientific and engineering principles, criteria, and techniques to identifying and assessing a software's contribution to safety hazards and informing the implementation of mitigations to reduce warfighter risk. Work in a dynamic team environment of client and contract staff to leverage and apply experience with software system safety. Help execute comprehensive software system safety programs or individual tasks, including plans, analyses, assessments, and evaluations. Analyze data, develop written deliverables, assist with the presentation of results, and assist with the review of client software system safety documents to verify compliance with requirements, policy, and guidance documents. Focus on completing client work in accordance with established plans and quality standards. 


Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with software development
-1+ years of experience with developing and debugging multi-threaded or real-time embedded software

-1+ years of experience with software system safety implementation

-Experience with using software development environments and tools, including Eclipse, Microsoft Visual Studio, or Rational Software

-Experience with FPGAs, PLDs, and firmware development

-Experience with operating systems and compiler technology

-Ability to analyze, research, assess, and organize technical data into cohesive and clear technical reports and presentations

-Ability to organize, schedule, and facilitate technical meetings and working groups

-Secret clearance

-BS degree in CS, EE, Engineering, or Software Engineering


Additional Qualifications:

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-MS degree in CS, EE, Engineering, or Software Engineering preferred

-Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Navy Principal for Safety (PFS), or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certifications preferred 


Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
