The role Choice Hotels is seeking a Project Manager, Corporate Development and Innovation to join our Corporate Development team. This new role will lead and support the discovery and development of new strategic growth opportunities for the company through M&A, investments, corporate-level partnerships or through the launch of new lines of business. Our Project Manager will participate in all elements of the deal execution process by providing financial, analytical and strategic support to the executive team across all stages, from ideation to assessment of investment options, due diligence and execution/implementation. The day to day Strategic and Financial Analysis: Research and articulate the strategic rationale and risk/return characteristics of investment opportunities (M&A, strategic investments, corporate-level partnerships, launch of internal start-ups) across a variety of industries (including lodging, technology, travel, franchising or real estate) and geographies. Develop business cases to identify, assess, screen, and validate potential initiatives using financial and strategic analysis frameworks. Develop complex financial models to evaluate potential opportunities Underwrite acquisition and development opportunities utilizing valuation models and various debt and equity structures. Oversee junior associates in their preparation of financial models Prepare and present clear, concise investment and strategy presentations and internal memos for the executive team, Board of Directors, and external partners. Deal/Investment Execution: Lead valuations of projects and targets; support team in financial structuring and due diligence exercises for acquisition or partnership opportunities. Work collaboratively across functions (technology, legal, finance, communications, tax, brands, sales) to conduct due diligence to validate assessment opportunities. Manage cross-functional teams of business units and corporate departments (eg legal, tax, HR, finance) through various phases of M&A and strategic investments projects/ Support contract negotiations (LOIs, term sheets, agreements) for partnerships and corporate transactions Environmental Monitoring: Conduct screens to source ideas and perform opportunity assessment, market research, market sizing. Work across the company to support and validate new idea generation, identify growth opportunities and promote a culture of innovation. Through attendance of industry conference and functions, build a professional network of internal and external contacts to keep abreast of investment opportunities, emerging business models, and industry trends. Track research sources, identify and monitor trends of interest and translate findings into actionable projects. Skills you have.. Bachelor's degree required, quantitative major preferred. Master's degree or MBA preferred. 4-6 years of experience, ideally with a major consulting firm, financial services firm, investment firm (investment bank, private equity, REIT, venture capital), or Fortune 500 company strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Power point, Excel and Word. Financial modeling skills required. CFA Charter holder or demonstrated progress toward obtaining the charter preferred. Experience in financial modeling, due diligence, valuations, project management, corporate strategy and business/investment case development required. Experience within the real estate, franchising or hospitality industries a strong plus Software development, telecommunications, and media industry experience also desirable. Proven ability to collaborate widely in an organization, across functions, to deliver team results. Proven ability to plan and manage projects across various departments and track deliverables. Candidate must demonstrate a strong attention to detail and an ability and desire to learn quickly. Excellent communication skills and executive presence required (written/verbal). Experience preparing and delivering presentations with confidence to senior and C-level executives. Ability to research and synthetize large amounts of market and financial information into clear presentations, and to build compelling narratives leveraging relevant information Candidate must be able to demonstrate initiative and creative problem solving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
