About us: We are a small, family-owned bar and restaurant in Howard County. We re known for our homemade food; variety of beers (85 and counting!); daily entertainment such as karaoke, trivia, comedy, & live music; and our copious specials! Our loyal customer base of regulars is what makes us home for many in the area we re often referred to as the Cheers of Howard County! Minimum requirements: 1+ year of experience in the back of the house at a bar or restaurant Timeliness/availability : You MUST be able to be at work by 9am (opening day shift), 12pm (opening evening shift), 3pm (middle evening shift), or 5pm (closing shift). If these times do not work for your schedule, this job is not a good fit for you. Professional and consistent : Consistency in food preparation and presentation is absolutely essential ! We have regulars who have been coming in every week for years, and they expect their usual order to be the same every time, no matter which cook is working that day. We make virtually everything from scratch, including sauces & dressings, and appetizers such as chicken tenders and onion rings (which most bars buy already prepared and frozen). An eye for detail is a must. Take pride in every plate that you serve! Hardworking Team Player : We are a small staff and must rely on one another to succeed. This includes setting up your station properly, storing/dating food consistently, keeping regular communication with other staff members as to what we are running low on, how an order is coming along, etc. Do not be afraid to ask questions we are looking for ambitious self-starters who are eager to learn, and who find any opportunity to do so. We have no time for the typical front- versus back-of-house staff wars that take place in many restaurants! Communicate clearly, cheerfully, and respectfully with servers and bartenders, and with your fellow cooks. This should go without saying, but we are a drug-free environment with a zero-tolerance policy! Preferred qualifications (preference will be given to candidates with the following): 3+ years of experience in the back of the house, and/or experience as a Sous or assistant chef, or as a back-of-house manager.
