Licensed Mental Health Professional
Job Description Job Summary: YFT was founded in 1986 and since that time has been helping children in the community and across the country. YFT has outpatient offices in Bristow and Woodbridge and currently has openings for Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP). As a LMHP you will be providing counseling, intervention and referral, as well as case management for clients, including counseling for suicide, behavior disorders, etc. children and their family/care giver. LMHP's provide crisis intervention, safety planning, support, information, and resource information face to face with clients in YFT offices and/or at various community sites. Also, be able to document provision of all services as prescribed by YFT management. Key Responsibilities: Provides general counseling interventions and other forms of therapy. Possess knowledge of and have experience with DSM V diagnoses, assessment, evaluation and referral processes. Possess a strong understanding of and have experience with systemic family therapy, principles and theories. Record necessary statistics from calls. Maintain all paperwork pertinent to you and your shift; collect stats form and client evaluations. Maintain current knowledge of changes in policies and procedures, new community resources, and other information. Be available via phone for assistance/guidance for mental health urgent matters. Assists clients at the incident scenes, including evaluating and assessing their level of safety, stabilizing them in a crisis situation, listening and empathizing with them and helping them connect with family and friends. Provides follow up services, such as individual short-term counseling and referrals, when needed. Offers community outreach and psycho-educational programs. Have knowledge of, and collaborate with, social service agencies in Prince William County providing resources and referral information for continuing care. Attend and participate in weekly YFT Clinical Services Meetings. Attend and participate in trainings, workshops and conferences for continued collaboration and education as mandated by YFT. Adhere to YFT's administrative policies regarding counseling, as well as state and federal guidelines concerning children and counselors. Take appropriate first steps in an emergency. Consult with YFT Coordinator or Director of Behavioral Health Services for input on high risk situations. Immediately report suspected or actual physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse of any child to appropriate authorities and notify the Director of Clinical Services. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Master's Degree and Virginia licensure (LMHP) to provide counseling services. Demonstrated ability to work with adolescents and families in a counseling setting and function within an evaluation team format. Must be able to assess treatment needs and deliver appropriate interventions. Ability to maintain all required documentation. Bi-lingual speaking skills preferred (Spanish and English). Professionally facilitate counseling functions as they apply to our milieu of care.
