Job Description Assistant Manager/Sales Associate About Seasons Olive Oil & Vinegar Taproom: Established in 2009, Seasons Olive Oil & Vinegar is a family-owned retail and direct importer offering only the finest and freshest on-tap extra virgin olive oils and vinegar from around the world for customers to try before they purchase. We currently import and produce over 80 varieties of olive oil and vinegar, along with sea salts, small-batch pasta, salts and spices, and other gourmet foods and accessories. Our mission is to educate our customers while providing each guest with a positive experience. Our business currently operates five retail locations: Annapolis, MD; Bethesda, MD; Bethlehem, PA; Lancaster, PA, and Morristown, NJ. Job Description: The assistant manager contributes to the success of Seasons by inspiring customers on all points of their in-store culinary journey. The assistant manager blends business acumen and operational knowledge to drive retail sales while building a high-performing, well-trained team. This role uses discretion in assigning duties to employees and in employment decisions and is accountable for the achievement of sales goals, store operations, staffing and performance management of all store employees. The assistant manager reports to our store owners and communicates regularly about the overall business. This position offers up to 45 hours per week including weekends. Our goal at the store is to offer every guest with a fun, flavor-filled, unique, gastronomic experience where they learn, socialize, and understand how to use our products in a positive, friendly environment. At Seasons, we treat every guest that walks through the door as if they were visiting your home. You will be responsible for the following specific duties: Leading and inspiring a culture of enthusiastic salespeople who are as excited about our exceptional customer experience as they are the fabulous olive oil and vinegar products Ordering, maintaining and organizing products received from our warehouse, once per week Managing the complete operations of the store. Ensuring employees are effective at executing initiatives in a timely, efficient, and resourceful manner; delegating tasks appropriately and holding the team accountable Creating and maintaining employee schedule for ~3 to 4 part-time employees and establishing the store labor schedule by optimizing allocated hours to meet labor targets; hiring extra staff for holiday sales during November and December Communicating with store guests relevant and useful product information about extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, and our other gourmet food items Establishing and maintaining a lasting relationship with local customers who value excellent service, flavor, and experience Learning and using our Square point-of-sale (POS) system Maintaining good relationships with local restaurant partners Ensuring the store is clean at all times Creating seasonal and store displays Controlling and receiving inventory Creating and sending weekly store updates to business owners All in-store monetary transactions and weekly bank deposits Training and directing employees to ensure customer service standards are met The Ideal Candidate: Is a self-starter, fast-learner, independent worker, and problem solver who loves to educate and entertain customers in an engaging retail atmosphere Has a passion for cooking or has worked in a customer service capacity in food retail and/or food service industry; enjoys talking about recipe ideas and product pairings Will train with owners to learn how to sell our product line of the highest quality EVOO and Vinegar products to understand and answer all customer questions Is honest, efficient, flexible, and dependable Has respect for excellent ingredients, food, cooking, and especially olive oil and balsamic vinegar Is open to learning new products, new ways of doing things, and new ideas Is an agile leader who loves to prioritize, plan, and adjust their schedule to ensure business goals are achieved Is a risk-taker who is not afraid to go above and beyond to exceed a customers' expectations to offer superior customer service and experience Loves to contribute to management and store meetings, offering suggestions for associate development and organizational improvements Reinforces customer service principles by coaching staff on their successes and challenges Is available to work up to three weekends per month Loves sales and figuring out new and creative ways to sell and promote our products Must be able to lift and mobilize medium items, up to 30 lbs., while utilizing appropriate equipment & safety techniques 3-5 Years of progressively responsible retail management experience preferred Compensation: Compensation is negotiable, commensurate with experience. We also offer an incentive compensation bonus plan based on store growth.
