This unparalleled growth resulted in the county being one of the earlier adopters of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology for a local government. Loudoun County uses Esri ArcGIS software, and holds one of Esri's earliest organizational licenses for a locality-Number 34. The County is also known as the "home to the internet" due to the presence of large data centers and multiple technology firms. JOB DESCRIPTION Loudoun County's Office of Mapping and Geographic Information is seeking qualified applicants to manage their Development and Analysis division. The GIS Development and Analysis Manager leads a team of six in the development, analysis, maintenance, and mapping of geographic data for use in decision-making processes by the Board of Supervisors, its commissions and committees, County staff, and the public. The division is also responsible for managing the yearly contract to update the County's base map data and obtain aerial photography, as well as the County's Conservation Easement Stewardship Program. This position serves as a point of contact for project requests, then works with Mapping staff and project requestors to develop project strategy, data requirements, deliverables, and deadlines. The division manager maintains performance measures, conducts performance reviews, provides professional advice to Board of Supervisors offices and County staff, and works with department leadership to set goals and establish policies for the office. Work will take place at the Loudoun County Government Center in Leesburg, Virginia, Monday-Friday during core business hours. JOB REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will possess any combination of education or experience equivalent to a Master's degree in Geography, GIS, or related discipline, as well as at least 4 years of professional experience with GIS. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Supervisory experience and contract management experience are a plus; excellent communication skills and a working knowledge of Esri's ArcGIS software suite are a requirement.
