    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    For the GS-13 level:  Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience developing, implementing, coordinating, reviewing, and evaluating security plans, policies, technical/administrative procedures, accreditation documents, programs, etc., associated with IT equipment, software, design, data and physical security, and communications.  Assisted in developing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, network and data.  Conducted risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify protection needs.

    In addition to the qualification requirements above, applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the five competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Written Communication, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.

    BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION AND FINGERPRINT CHECK: Selection and retention in this position is contingent on a successfully adjudicated FBI National Criminal History Check (fingerprint check) and a background investigation.

    E-Verify: Federal law requires agencies to use the E-Verify system to confirm the employment eligibility of all new hires. Applicants who meet the basic minimum qualification requirements established for the position will be placed in the Eligible category. Eligible applicants will be further evaluated against criteria for placement in the Quality category. This evaluation is based on the level of your experience, education, and/or training as determined by your responses to the Assessment Questionnaire.
